Show Rachel Thorley, active Church Worker dies; Honored at Services survivng are 17 grandchildren: grand-children: 16 great grandchildren; grand-children; 4 sisters and one brother; Mrs. Vera Nelson. Mrs. Dell (Oral) Carpenter both- of Cedar City; Mrs. Rachel Harris Thorley, 79, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother died on July 1 - at her home. She was born on Jan. 3, 1900 to Anna Hallman and Fbenezer Harris She married Morton C. Thorley on April K, W.'ii in the Salt Lake Temple. She-was She-was a homemaker and an active member of the LPS Church. She loved to ride, horses and spent her summers sum-mers on the mountain. She worked in the Primary lor 20 years holding every position from president to teacher. She was a visiting teacher for 28 years and gave the visiting teacher lessons. Who was lesson leader in the DUP for five years and was president and secretary of the World War I Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, four daughters and one son; Mrs. Gene (Florence) Raird of Henderson, Hen-derson, Nev.; Mrs. Elliott Thorley. Mrs. Pat Heyborne. and Mrs. Wallace (Helen Kao) Flanigan all of Cedar City; and David H. Thorley of Scottsdale, Arizona. Also Hachel H. Thorley Pete (Erma) Fife of Washington, Ut.; Mrs. Inez Dover of Los Angeles, Calif, and Rex Harris of Sun City. Arizona. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 3. 1979 at 2 p.m. in the Cedar Third LDS Ward Chapel with Gene Cordon conducting. The family prayer was offered by Tex Asay with Frank Berrett playing the prelude, postlude music and Lister Hallman gave the invocation. in-vocation. The speakers were Rex Harris, Robert J. Ovcrson and Kathryn Rowley with remarks by Bishop George Fry. Musical selections consisted of a vocal solo "Beyond the Sunset" by Helen DeMille acc. by Rinda Christensen and a vocal trio "How Great Thou Art" by Rinda Christensen, Kathy Leydsman and Valorie Huntington acc. by Lois Fry. The benediction was by Richard Williams Jr. and Jack Matheson dedicated the grave. Interment was in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury & Graff Mortuary. |
