Mr. Swanson has been active in church and civic affairs. He has helped extensively ex-tensively with the fund falsing activities of the Ceflfcr Action Group. I .-.;' , J EARLE CURRAN , The Cedar City Coor dinating Council is presently I conducting an election for ; the coordinating Council Central Committee ac- j cording to Richard Whitney, Chairman. Ballots are being j distributed by mail to j community leaders. j Any interested individual who does not receive a ballot may participate in the election by contacting the Community Education office at 586-6513 or by calling ar the Iron County School Board Office in person. Candidates for the Central Committee are: Arta Brough, Virginia Dusen-bury, Dusen-bury, Christ Mclauent LaVeve Whetten, Earle Curran, and Tim Swanson. Three will be elected to serve a three-year term each. Candidates Arta Brough is a native of Nephi, Utah and has been a resident of Cedar City for the past 12 years. She is presently employed as a career counselor at Southern Utah State College. Mrs. Brough holds a B.S. degree in business education and an M. Ed. degree in counseling and guidance. She is president of the Southern Utah State College faculty-staff associated women and president of the I X Chapter of Delta Kappa fiamma 1 t I (i it I ' ' - ' J VIRGINIA DUSENBURY ARTA BROUGH CHRIS McNAUGHT A " : La VEVE WHETTEN Prior to that he was Supervisory Ranger at Padre Island National in Seashore. Texas from 1965-69 1965-69 and District Ranger at Death Valley National Monument from 1969-74. Virginia Dusenbury was born in Montclair, New Jersey and moved to Montana in the late 40's where she and her husband Robert ran a sheep and cattle ranch. Following several years in Flagstaff, Arizona she moved to Cedar City in 1976. Mrs. Dusenbury holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Montana State and has attended graduate school at Northern Arizona University. She has been very active in civic and church affairs. She was director at large of the Montana Institute of the Arts, ' director of the Flagstaff Art Center, a member of Cedar City Art Committee, and a member of the Manning-Halverson Oratorio Society. Mrs. Dusenbury and her husband Robert are the parents of two sons. Tim Swanson has lived in Cedar City since 1976 and is currently employed as the stockbroker-manager of the Cedar City office of Edward D. Jones & Co. . ; He holds a TIM SWANSON Mrs. Brough and her husband, Rulon, are the parents of five children. Chris McNaught and her husband Ross moved to Cedar City from Phoenix, Arizona a year ago with their six children. Mrs. McNaught is from Canada originally. She enjoys Cedar City very much. Her husband, Ross, is a doctor working out of the Valley View Medical Center. LaVeve Whetten has been a resident of Cedar City for the past 38 years. During this time she has served in many civic and church positions. She was a member of the Southern Utah State Faculty for 25 years as assistant professor in the Physical Education and Dance Departments. She is the wife of former mayor, Loren Whetten. Earle Curran was born in Oakdale, California and has been a resident of Cedar City since 1974. He holds a B.S. degree in Park Management from Sacramento State College. He and his wife, Amy, are the parents of two girls. He is presently the superintendent of the Cedar Breaks National Monument |
