And, at long last, the decision was made to construct a fenced patio at the Iron County Rest Home, rather than the options to fence the entire corner area or leave the space open. The commissioners indicated the patio would be on the east and north corner area of the rest home, allowing for patients to receive exercise, but reducing the chance of patients walking away from the home. Ordinance clause Ray Anker, County Building Inspector In-spector and secretary to the Planning and Zoning Commission, reported to v ? commissioners on selected parts of the Davis County Subdivision Ordinance, noting the qualifications between small and large subdivisions. Subdivisions with 10 or less lots are exempt from Davis County's annexation an-nexation clause, while those with over 10 lots have to be contigeous to corporate cor-porate limits or be eligible for annexation. an-nexation. The commissioners said the information would be used in revising the local ordinance. The commissioners also authorized the county attorney to begin procedures to demand payment of bonds from subdividers and developers; which bonds are required, but apparently have not been enforced. The commissioners said the bond, which is set at six cents a foot of road in a residential subdivision, should be paid when plats are approved or "we will have to start cutting off their sales and restricting future development". Junkyard license The bond for "mountain" subdivisions sub-divisions is four cents a foot of road. "If this moritorium has done anything, it has made us more aware of how to handle things like this," Commissioner Grant Seaman noted. The commissioners stated the payment for engineer's inspection of subdivision needed alterations. The commissioners also held up a business license application on a "junkyard" in the Midvalley area, advising the party to appear first before the Planning and Zoning Commission with full information. The acceptance of the license may require a zone change or an exemption. exemp-tion. Melba Barton, Paragonah, expressed ex-pressed her disappointment to the commissioners over the "terrible condition" of the road between Paragonah and Parowan. She said that four-mile stretch of road deserved a new coat of oil more than the recently upgraded Summit- Parowan hgihway. "There is not one car to our 500 on that Summit road," she said. "And the weeds are just terrible and need to be cut. We feel like we are the tail-end of the county." Barton was told the Paragonah stretch was discussed as a possibility for Economic Development Administration Ad-ministration money (the source of funds for several road projects throughout the county) but the Utah Department of Transportation had alluded to the possibility of the stretch being designated a state highway. In other business of note, the commission: --acknowledged the resignation of Ivan Robb from the Planning and Zoning Commission. --tabled a decision on the establishment establish-ment of a new voting district made from the Cedar City Mth Voting District. --approved a motion to re-appoint those registration agents who are willing to remain who served in the most recent election. --okayed on a 2-1 vote, with Cleo Wood dissenting, a resolution backing the Piaute Indian band's efforts to be re-established as a tribe. The com-misioners com-misioners backed the idea, noting "it is federal policy that administers money to Indian tribes. -indicated the county would be willing to cooperate with Cedar City on the use of the Smith Pit for a combined landfill. |
