Show Fire Danger at Zion Park Fire restrictions for Zion National Park have been placed into effect. Superintendent Robert C. Heyder announced that special restrictions are necessary due to extreme fire danger. There has been no measurable precipitation in the Park since May 7. Effective immediately, persons using the" back-country back-country will not be permitted per-mitted to use open fires or ground fires. The use of pro table backpacking stoves is permitted, but extreme care should be exercised. Smoking while traveling in the backcountry of the Park or along Park roads and trails is not permitted. Fires may be used in the picnic area and campgrounds cam-pgrounds only in the fireplaces provided. Such fires shall not be left unattended, unat-tended, and when no longer needed, the fires shall be completely extinguished. No ground fires will be allowed in picnic or camping areas. These regulations will remain in effect until safer conditions exist. |
