Show BPW Club members hold Jauary meet The regular dinner meeting of the Cedar City Business and Professional Women's Club was held at Sullivan's Cafe January 14. President Mary Anker welcomed members and guests. She announced that the Winter Board meeting of the State Federation will be held in Salt Laake City on February 1st. The Legislative Committee, Alice Alexander, chairman, was in charge of the program. She presented a musical group from Southern Utah State Col-lege, Col-lege, consisting of Miss Judy Brown of Centerville, who accompanied ac-companied on her cello, Miss Jeri Barton of St. George, who sang "Tiny Sparrow", and Alan Hunt, who played the guitar and sang a folk song, "Johnny". Mrs. Ellen Jenson, who is a member of the Cedar City Police Po-lice Force, introduced Sheriff Ira Schoppman and Mrs. Schoppman. The Sheriff discussed dis-cussed the increasing use of drugs generally and even some instances in our own community. He explained the various types of drugs and their effects on the users.. Mrs. Jenson also spoke on the problem pro-blem which she has encountered encount-ered in her work. It was a serious matter that we should all be aware of. |
