Six SUSC students accepted for study at professional medical and dental training institutions Six Southern Utah State College Col-lege students will enter professional pro-fessional schools this fall, it was announced by Dr. Harl Judd. dean of the SUSC School of Sciences. Roger F. Williams, George S. Manning, Ray E. Lunt, and Michael Major, all of Cedar City, and Dan Henrie, Delta, and Richard E. Swope, Arcadia, Arca-dia, Calif., have been accepted by medical and dental schools. Mr. Williams will enroll in medical school at the University Univer-sity of Utah as a member of the freshman class. He graduated grad-uated from SUSC in June. 1971 with a major in Zoology. He is the son of Dr4 and Mrs. Ry. mal G. Williams of Cedar City His wife is the former Karla Church of Delta. Following his graduation . from . medical school and his internship and residency, Williams plans to return to Cedar. City to practice prac-tice medicine. Mr. Manning is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Manning Man-ning of Cedar City and the husband of the former Judith Anderson, also of Cedar City. Manning will become a student stu-dent in the University of Nevada Ne-vada Medical School at Reno. He attended SUSC, Utah State University, Los Angeles State College, and Rice University. He served as a teaching assistant as-sistant at L. A. State and Rice. Manning is a captain in the U. S. Army Medical Division, where he has served for four and one-half years. He Is currently cur-rently stationed in Bangkok, Thailand. Lunt has' been accepted by the Kansas City Dental School at the University of Missouri. He graduated from SUSC with a degree in Zoology and has also attended the University of Utah. He is a son of Dr. and Mrs. Paul R. Lunt, Cedar Ciity. His wife is the former Marianne Brandt of Mldvale. The Lunts' are the parents of a son, Paul Ray, two months of age. Major will attend the Creighton University School of Medicine and plans after his graduation and internship and residency to practice some where, in. the scuthern Utah area. He is the son of Mrs. Florine Major of Cedar City and the late Dr. Samuel Major. He graduated from SUSC in 1971 with high honors as a Zoology major and was selected select-ed as valedictorian of the School of Sciences. Mr. Henrie is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Cutler Henrie of Delta. His wife is the former Kathleen Church, also of Delta. Del-ta. He has been accepted in the University of Utah Medical Medi-cal School, and after receiving his medical education plans to become a general practitioner practi-tioner in the southern Utah area. He will receive a degree in Zoology from SUSC. Mr. Swope received a degree in Zoology from SUSC at the 1971 commencement. He also attended Pasadena City College Col-lege and the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash. Mr. Swope's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Box of Milwaukie, Ore. He is married mar-ried to the former Karla Hea-ton Hea-ton of Cedar City. Mr. Swope will attend the Northwestern University Dental School In Chicago. He would like to return re-turn to Cedar City to practice after graduation. |
