Show Shakespearean Festival has successful opening Three highly successful opening nights marked the beginning of the tenth annual season for the Utah .Shakespearean .Shakes-pearean Festival at Southern Utah State College. Capacity crowds saw pre- r -preventative of civic and service organizations in the community. Mr. Adams emphasized th? ever growing interest and support of the loeaf, citizenry and expressed the appreciation and pride I of all Festival participants in the dedicated efforts of Cedar Cily residents who give of their the-ir time and talents to provide hospitality for the thousands cf Festival patrons who visit the city each year. The three Festival plays will continue on alternating nights through August 7. L-J-ilD Is mier performances of "Tarn-) ing of the Shrew," directed by i John Elzey, "King Henry IV, Part I," directed by Richard Jamieson, and "The Tempest," directed by Fred C. Adams. The first night audience heard Mr. Adams honor members mem-bers of the Utah Shakespearean Shakespear-ean Festival Board, and the Obert C. Tanner family, prime donors of building funds for the new and permanent Festival Fes-tival set. Also honored was Harold Lundstrom, veteran Salt Lake City journalist, whom Mr. Adama cited for "loyal and continuous support" sup-port" of the Festival through all of its ten seasons. The second opening night was designed as an honoring occasion for SUSC administrators adminis-trators and Institutional Council Coun-cil member in recognition of their efforts to launch and perpetuate Ihc Festival as " cultural and educational boost bo-ost to the State cf Utah. Mr. Adams had ppecial prabc for Or. Roydcn C. Braithwaite for his faith and loyalty to the Festival through the arduous years of its growth. City and county officials were honored on the third opening nijht, as well as POPULAR PRODUCTION. "Taming of the Shrew", one of the popular productions pro-ductions of the Utah Shakespearean Festival was glazed to oncn the 1071 season Thursday evening. The first round of plays brought capacity crowds and raves for the permanent structure bcins used this season. |
