Show Pioneer Day Celebration to feature variety for family A parade, public meeting and a wide variety of entertainment enter-tainment activities have been planned for the Annual Pioneer Pio-neer Celebration in Cedar City Saturday, July 24. The celebration is under the direction of the Cedar Stake, LDS Church, and the Sunday School Stake organization in charge of the overall events. The parade will begin at 9:30 a. m. and will highlight the activities of the day. The parade is under the sponsorship sponsor-ship of the Stake Primary with Mrs. Walter Hansink, pres. and director. Mrs. Hansink indicates indi-cates that "this year's parade promises to be one of the biggest big-gest parades' to ever move down main street.". Theme of the parade is "Together "To-gether We Build" and church organizations, civic groups, business firms, riding clubs from throughout southern Utah, and others will partici pate. .' Those who are not registered or who would like to participate partici-pate can contact Mrs. Hansink. Assemblying time will be 8:30 a. rn. at the Safeway parking lot area on 400 South Main. Participants in the parade will expressively depict a message of honor to our heritage, herit-age, Mrs. Hansink stated. , Prizes of $30 for first, $20 for second, $10 for third, and $5 for fourth will be awarded. First and second place- ribbons will be awarded the Riding Club3 who will also he participating. partici-pating. , Senior citizens throughout th-roughout the. area will be honored as well. The Cedar City Sons and Daughters cf the Utah Pioneers Pio-neers will sponsor a public meeting at the .Cedar First-Twelth First-Twelth Ward Chapel, immediately immedi-ately following the parade. Adam Scegmiller will.be the feature speaker. Following the parade and throughout the afternoon activities act-ivities at the park will provide entertainment for people of all ages. Concession booths will be available including fish ponds, dunking machine, dart games, baseball throw, ring tosses- and hamburgers and soft drinks, ice creams and other, light refreshments will be available. A huge bake sale will also take place with home made candy being one of the special features of home-made foods. All proceeds gained during the days activities will go directly to the Cedar Stake building fund to be used for further improvements on the new Stake Center and also other ward buildings in the stake.- -' . .
