Show Street Oiling bids opened by Cedar City Cedar City Corporation is planning an extensive street oiling program for the summer and bids were opened ,at the meeting of the City Council Thursday in preparation for the project. The apparent low bidder was Kenyon Parry who submitted sub-mitted a bid of $6,975 per ton for oil mulch and .025 cents for tack, coating. Only other bidder was Western Rock w ho bid $6.98 for mulch and .05 cents for tack coating. Check bid specificatinos City Engineer was instructed instruct-ed to check the specifications with the apparent low bidder before an award on the project pro-ject will be made. Mayor Loren Whetten invited in-vited citizens to participate in the program, particularly where they have installed curb and gutter. Letters have already gone to property owners, own-ers, he indicated, inviting them to have curb to curb oiling oil-ing done with all preparation to be furnished by the city and the oil mulch to be given at the rate established by the city through the bid opening last week. The purchase is part of an acquisition acqui-sition of property by j and Iron County for future development and office space. The Mayor also indicated the that they hoped to further aquire property further north to McArthur Avenue in the future. . ,. Cedar City Corporation is also the recipient of two large fire engines to be used at t' e municipal Airport. One of the units, originally valued at $85,000, was aquired through the state. It was previously located at Dougway Proving Grounds and turned over to the state of Utah. Governor Calvin Rampton then assigned the unit to Cedar City. The second unit was formerly located lo-cated at Hill Air Force Base in northern Utah.
