Show Full day program set for July 4 The program for the observance observ-ance of our Nation's birthday, July 4, are nearing completion with a full day of events on the schedule for residents oi this community, with those from the surrounding area invited in-vited to join in the activities, it is announced by Beverly Taylor, who is chairman for the day's program. She announces that the day will pet under way with the traditional daybreak salute with other events to be held as follows: A parade, clown Parowan Wain Street at 9:30 a. m.; a sports program for both young and old along with concessions on the city park at 10 a. m.; A public patriotic mooting at 11:30 in the Third Ward church; the annual July 4 Race Meet of the Red Hill Wranglers at 2 p. m., and a dance in the eve- I ning to climax the day. ; The chairman issues the fob . lowing information concerning parade entries. All floats are to be in line in front of the ; Rest Heme at 9 a. m. She cm- phasizes that judging of tho junior division will be done before the parade begins and that all participants in this i division must be in line by 9 so the judging can be com-I com-I pleted before the parade gets under way. I Three cash prizes will be i awarded in each division with senior division prizes to be $25 for first place; $15 for second sec-ond place, and $10 for third. In the junior division the first place entry with receive $5; second place, $1 and third place $3. The program for the" public pub-lic meeting at 11:30, sponsored by Parowan Post 20, American Ameri-can Legion, will be as follows Amos C. Hatch will give the main address with talks by Michelle Decker as Goddess of Liberty and Richard Adams, as Uncle Sam. Musical numbers num-bers will be a selection by a ladies quartet consisting of Jackie Robinson, Mcrna Mitchell, Mitch-ell, Katrine Johnson and Janet Jan-et Jones; a piano solo by Christine Knight, and a vocal solo by Marilyn Orton. The afternoon program of horse racing is given in another an-other story in this section, with the Wranglers also setting set-ting up a second day of racing rac-ing on Saturday afternoon at the Parowan race track. |
