Show Steve Adams leaves for England after Vietnam duty tour 'HP J ' ' ;vlf !,) V.:.:. : Mw-:W- - '-r''';; I .'l'"'WlMr.,.r. I , Lt. STEVE ADAMS For the past three weeks Lt. and Mrs. Stephen D. Adams have been visiting in Cedar City with family and friends. Steve is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Drex Adams of Cedar City. His wife, the former Ann Leigh, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Leigh, also of Cedar City. Lt. Adams returned June 1 from serving a one year tour of duty at Cam Rahn Bay, Vietnam. While stationed at Cam Rahn Bay, Lt. Adams flew 219 combat missions in the F-4 (Phantom) fighter, 33 of these missions were over North Vietnam. Lt. Adams has been awarded an Air Medal with 11 oak leaf clusters, a purple heart, a Distinguished Flying Cross, Vietnamese Service Ser-vice Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Cam-paign medal and the Vietnamese Viet-namese Cross of Gallentry. In January of this year Lt. Adams successfully ejected from his "Phantom" after being be-ing hit by Viet Cong ground fire. The aircraft burst into flames and exploded five sec- ond.s after he had ejected. Lt. Adams wife, Ann, taught in the Child Development Dept. at University of Arizona during the past year. She also worked with project head start in Arizona and Nevada. The Adams' next assignment will be RAF Bentwarter England. En-gland. Lt. Adams will continue contin-ue to fly the F-4 during the 3 years he will be stationed in England. |
