Esplin's grand slam was the first home run of any kind in the league this season. Later in the contest Bruce Blackner of Ron's belted a two run homer, but it was not enough to overcom.3 the lead built up by Cedar Crest. Ron's took the lead in the first inning with four runs on five singles but Cedar Crest pushed in eight runs on just three hits including Esplin's grand slam in the second inning in-ning of play to take a 10-4 margin. Winning pitcher was Brice Betenson. Lewis Chamberlain Cham-berlain and Jeff Carr shared mound duty for the losers with Carr suffering the loss. Lockhart in the meantime continued their winning ways with two victories. Friday night they beat Parowan 8 to 1 and Tuesday they downed Ron's Sportng Goods 6-1. Against Parowan Steve Rollo hurled a three hitter and collected col-lected 12 strikeouts in the process. pro-cess. Parowan scored their only on-ly run in the first frame to hold a brief lead in the game. A triple by Rollo to, score three runs in the second frame put Lockhart on top to stay. Paul Wyaskett also doubled for the winners and Marcus Lunt belted belt-ed two hits in three trips to lead in that department. Wyaskett was the winning pitcher over Ron's Monday giving up just two hits. Lane Spevack and Bruce Blackner were on the mound for the losers. los-ers. Brent Blackner belted a single in the sixth frame to send home the only score for Ron's in the contest. Wyaskett, Tom Cardon and Robert Hulet all doubled for Lockhart for their extra base hits. In other action of the week Cedar Crest posted a 7 to 1 victory Monday night over Parowan. The two pitchers, Charles Morris who was on the mound for the first four |
