Show Telephone system purchases help economy of Utah Western Electric, the manufacturing manu-facturing and supply unit of the Bell System, paid $21,875,-797 $21,875,-797 to suppliers in Utah during 1968, according to Dee Jensen, manager for Mountain States Telephone. Jensen said the amount was an increase of more than $0 million over 1967 when the firm spent $15,770,311. Supplies Sup-plies were purchased from 261 concerns in 20 of the state's communities. Most of the suppliers sup-pliers were small businesses. Purchases included such i-tcms i-tcms as copper, much of which is used in telephone cables throughout the country, automobiles auto-mobiles for the ' telephone company fleet and office supplies sup-plies ranging from major furniture items to paper clips. Western Electric employs more than 300 individuals in the state. Headquarters is the Salt Lake City Service Center which serves Utah, Idaho and Montana. |
