Show Cedar City Round Table club enjoys meeting series The Round Table Club have had three interesting meetings this summer. The first was June 12 at the home of Nellie Painter when several informative inform-ative letters from Mr. and Mrs. Jam.es C. Applegate who are on an LDS Mission in Northern North-ern Ireland report their success suc-cess and progress. The second meeting was on June 11 at the home of Pearl Rogers where Police-women Ellen Jcnson gave a lesson on the efficient work and duties of Cedar's Police Force. She also earnestly urg.od us to cooperate co-operate with them at all times in cases of suspicious conduct as well as real misbehavior displayed by travelers as well as any local individuals who seem bint on committing ' acts of vandalism or criminal ! offenses needing correction. ' Mrs. Jenson favored crime pre. vention rather than waiting when cures are necessary. I The meeting held with Ver-! da Matheson as hostess at her home on June 27, 1969 had as guest speaker Paul Vorkink and Mrs. Vorkink was a specially spec-ially invited guest. They had spent one year in Alaska where they taught school and their daughter Evelyn attended attend-ed the Alaska University. Mr. Vorkink gave comprehensive compre-hensive information on and showed very interesting slide pictures of many interesting scenes, towns and activities of the Alaskan people. H.- spoke also of the industrial indust-rial attractions that, from the beginning have hired tourists to our newest state. At each of the club meetings meet-ings light refreshments were served by acting hostess. Mrs. John A. Booth recently attended the graduation exercises ex-ercises of her granddaughter, Sharleno Booth, at the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young University. Shar-lene Shar-lene is the daughter of J. Stanford and Diane Booth Kit. terman who was a Cedar City school teacher for several years. From Provo Mrs. Booth visited vis-ited in Pullman, Washington with the Kittermans and on her way home spent several days with her son Roscoo and family in Boise, Idaho, and a couple of days in Salt Lake City with relatives and friends. |
