Show 1 Institute Choir to perform at LDS Conference The Cedar City LDS Institute Insti-tute Ciioir has received an Invitation In-vitation to provide the music for the Saturday afternoon session of the April General Conference of the church. The choir, of over 400 oices, directed by J. Phillip -lanks of the Institute faculty, fac-ulty, is made up of students attending SUSC. Dr. Blaine .1. Johnson, d. rector of the college choir.s, has pledged us support and assistance, and neany all members of the jollege A Cappeila and Cnam-oer Cnam-oer Cnoirs are members oi the organization wmcn will sing at tne conference. Dr. Jo.in-son Jo.in-son will direct one of the numbers sung at the conference, confer-ence, Transporting this number of singers to and from Salt Lake city is no small project, as Dr. Joseph C. Felix, institute director, is discovering. Plans are being made to cnarter ten ouses ior the group. Fund-raising Fund-raising projects have been organized or-ganized under the direct. on of Dennis Marchant, committee commit-tee chairman, in hopes of raising as much of the cost of transportation as possible. Such projects as baked goods sales, car washes, lapel button but-ton sales, and promotion of local cultural and entertainment entertain-ment programs are aireauy proving to be quite successful, aue to the ready enthusiasm of the Citizens of Ceuar uny and surrounding communities. Choir officers are Scott Potter, Pot-ter, president; Geraldine Barton, Bar-ton, secretary; Norman Kobin-son, Kobin-son, librarian; and Peggy Minster, accompanist. Songs to be rendered by the choir are: "An Angel from on High," "The Seer," "Joseph the Seer," and "Let the Mountains Moun-tains Shout for Joy." |
