Show COMMUNITY PROJECT Nolhing adds more 1o the attractiveness of a community, large or small, particularly to the traveler travel-er during the summer tourist season, as does a well-kept, well-kept, shadv park in the heart of the community. Ce-; Ce-; dar City has w hat could be one of the greatest assets ; to a city that is located in the heart of an area with a wide range of tourist attractions, and is striving to - maintain its position as a leading tourist center r the municipal park on Main and 200 North streets. '' However, this is not the attractive spot that it should be, mostly because of the lack of trees and shade, and to some extent beacuse it is not kept as t, "well trimmed" and clean as it might be. A few years ago most of the trees were removed ," from the interior of the park, mostly because the ,', trees there were old and really needed replace-, replace-, , ment. At that time new trees were planted, but only very small, slow growing types. Eventually, when these trees grow to a reasonable height the park will . ' again be an attractive place that will leave a lasting ;T memory to the traveler who may stop or even just ".. pass through. - But this will take time, too much time, and some- '" thing should be done about it now. It will take perhaps per-haps 10 to 12 years for the new trees to reach a stage where the park will be the beauty spot that it could be. Therefore, why shouldn't the city administration, f! or civic minded members of organized groups in the community do somethiing about it now, instead of dreaming of what it will be like in the future. We suggest that the city fathers, and andor the - civic organizations, each add a full-grown tree to the f park, which would almost immediately make a show place of the park. If two or three full-grown trees were added this year and next, and perhaps the next, in a short period of time the city park would again : be the beauty spot it once was, and a place of beauty for the pleasure of local residents and visitors to this area, alike. |
