Show COMMENTS We are grateful to the person per-son who was responsible for Mrs. Alice Barton, received a "Valentine" one day last week in Dan Valentine's column. But we would like to state that as long as we can remember remem-ber the Barton address has been 38 South 200 West in l'uiowan. V 'i are happy to see that 1 1 .ei.Jent Nixon has found out that a lot of the school chil-I chil-I dren of the country are not learning to read in spite of ithe huge sums spent lor edu-! edu-! cation by national, state and county agencies. Some one should further enlighten him to the fact that a lot of the ; students can't write or spll either. But what can you expect ex-pect if they are just shown a picture. I'll bet the fish in Lake Powell shuddered when they saw the group from Parowan unloading at the boat ramp last Friday, and probably took to the bottom of the lake and remained there until Monday morning. Parowan City sent letters to all city residents on the weekend asking their cooperation cooper-ation in a city-wide clean-up this spring. I called attention to what should be done to do a good job. We rode around j tho city Sunday afternoon and . saw plenty of old cars that need moving, lots of weed patches that need cleaning up, and there are still a few old barns that are useless and ! eyesores, and all need moving and tearing down. j |
