Show A h H U! ' COMPLETE PROJECTS. Students of Southern Utah State College, including, includ-ing, left to right, Steve Piatt, Don Adams and Doug Grimshaw, complet ed a series of outstanding projects in engineering during spring quarter Projects were designed by students and juudged by professional engineers. Political science class completes projects at S USC A structure to facilitate irrigation irri-gation operations by removing solid sediment materials from moving streams, an automatic irrigation system and a system sys-tem for home use of solar energy en-ergy wore among projects in perfecting the three project designs, constructing models, and drawing up plans and specifications. Practicing professional engineers en-gineers were called In to judge the final designs at the conclusion con-clusion of the quarter. The sediment removal system was judged as first place winner, with the automatic irrigation system second and the solar energy system third. Students participating in the projects were project engineers engin-eers John Craw, Minersville, and Don Adams and Leon Clark, Cedar City. Associate engineers were Blaine Lyman, Escalante, Michael Berrett, Rockville, and Steve Piatt, Doug Grimshaw, Lee Stucki and Robert Reid from Cedar City. completed by the Engineering Design class at Southern Utah State College during spring quarter. Under the direction of Professor Pro-fessor Richard Kimball, the class designed and built the projects to meet the course requirements of providing some practical devices to meet the needs of man. Professor Kimball said each, student in the class wrote a design proposal and a possible solution. The three best proposals pro-posals were selected, with the author of each becoming the project engineer for his partic. ular project. Other members of the class served as associate associ-ate engineers, with each project pro-ject group designated as a consulting firm. Each consulting firm spent the remainder of the quarter |
