ZCMI to display Shakespearean Festival costumes Residents of Northern Utah and visitors to Salt Lake City and Ogden will have an opportunity op-portunity June 29 to July 12 to view many of the most outstanding out-standing costumes used during dur-ing the past seven years in productions of the Utah Shakespearean Festival. The three ZCMI stores in downtown Salt Lake City, Cottonwood Cot-tonwood Mall, and Ogden will feature window displays of Shakespearean costumes as contrasted with modern apparel. ap-parel. The 51 costumes provided for the display by the USF will include attire from plays such as "Hamlet," "Taming of the Shrew," "As you Like It," "Twelfth Night," "King Lear," "Much Ado About Nothing," "Romeo and Juliet'" and each of the other 17 plays produced by the Festival in past seasons. sea-sons. Three plays are presented pre-sented each summer with favorites fav-orites scheduled for repeat performances per-formances every several years. The current season is now in preparation with the annual annu-al Governor's Night opening performance on July 17. The premier of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will launch the eighth annual Festival, followed by "Othello" on July 18 and "Love's Labour's Lost" on July 20. The Festival is staged on the campus of Southern Utah State College on an authentic Elizabethan set which is e-rected e-rected each year for the event. The 37 company members se-1 se-1 locted for this year's plays represent re-present 21 communities in 13 states. All are college stu- dents or post graduates. |
