Show k ., Ji-' '" .' ; ' I ATTENDED DAY CAMP. First Ward Guide Patrol Troop and loaders participate in "Cave-Man Cook Out" at Guide Patrol Day Camp. Guide Patrol Day held at Wood's Ranch Saturday, June 21 over 100 eleven year old Primary Guide Patrol boys and leaders from tho Cedar and Cedar West Stakes participated in the annual an-nual summer Guide Patrol Day Camp held at Wood's Ranch Recreation Center in Cedar Canyon. According to Stake Scout Directors, Mrs. Kenyon Parry, Cedar Stake and Mrs. Byron Anderson, Cedar Ce-dar West Stake, who directed the activities, this was one of the most successful Day Camps that has ever been held in this area. Assisting the two Scout Directors were Mrs. Carlyle Bills and Mrs. Robert While, Counselors in the two Stake Presidencies of the Primary organization. The day's activities began .with registration of boys and I leaders at 8:00 a.m. followed by an assembly of welcome and instruction. The Guide Patrol Primary boys were engaged en-gaged in Scouting skills from 9:00 until 12:00, which included in-cluded Crafts, Knot Tying, Compass and Map Reading, Trail Signs, Ax and Knife, and Nature Hike. These were taught by Mrs. Alvin Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Jim Anderson, Clinton Hunt, Lyman , Dodge, and Douglas Black, with each one being qualified in their field of scouting skills. After a Cave-Man Cook-out prepared by the Primary boys, the afternoon was scheduled for participation in contests of the various skills taught during dur-ing the morning. Primary groups in each ward of the two stakes competed as ward groups, rather than on an individual in-dividual basis. Ribbon awards were presented to the winning Guide Patrol class during the closing assembly in the late afternoon. Glen Ostler, District Scout Representative, also a special guest, participated in the scouting activities and contests. con-tests. He instructed and encouraged en-couraged the boys the challenge chal-lenge of being a Boy Scout. |
