Eraithwaito, President of Southern Utah State College. The fund was instituted to provide scholarships for students stu-dents of music attending SUSC. The Thorley family and I Mrs, Larson have for many years made significant conlrl-I conlrl-I but ions to SUSC through mus-j mus-j ic and other means. Thorley Hall, long tlv center of music 'activity on the campus, was given to the college by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tliorley and (their family in 1951. Mrs. Larson Lar-son and her children, have participated in orchestral and ensemble groups in numerous campus music presentations. Max Tliorley, a brother to Jay, has served SUSC as a special instructor In piano. Jay Thorley graduated from the college, then known as Branch Agricultural Coll.oge, in 1943. Mrs. Larson graduated from the school in 1950. Her daughter, Melissa, recently completed her freshman year at SUSC. Mrs. Larson's grandfather, George W. Decker, served as principal of Branch Normal School, the name under which SUSC was founded, from 1904 until 1913. He had served as a member of the faculty since the founding date in 1897.
