Show Two Big races to feature County Fair meet Last week we gave an account ac-count of one of the big races which will be run during the Iron County Fair Race Meet in Parowan on Saturday and Monday Aug. 30 and Sept. 1. This week we will publicize two more of the big races to be run on those days, from information given to us by Sam Pritehard, who is again acting as chairman of the two day race meet. These two races, The Iron County Maturity, will be run as the feature race on the Sept. 1 (Labor Day) program, and the Two-Year Old Futurity, Futuri-ty, to be run on the opening day, Saturday, Aug. 30. The Iron County Maturity is for horses four years old or over, and will be run for a guaranteed purse of $800 plus entry fees and a trophy ; blanket. The distance will be seven furlongs, with the horses hors-es passing the grandstand twice. Horses to run in this race must be nominated by paying a $15.00 fee by Aug. 1, and a final entrance fee of $35 by Aug. 28. Each horse will carry , 120 pounds with a five pound sex allowance, according to the rule makers. The two-year old Thoroughbred Thorough-bred Futurity will go for a distance of five furlongs for a purse of $200 with entry fees added and the winner receiving re-ceiving a trophy blanket. Nominations for this race must also be made by paying a fee of $10 by Aug 1 and an entry fee of $15 by Aug. 28.
