Show Lions plan Independence events Plans for an outstanding Independence Day Celebration in Cedar City are moving a-head a-head according to general chairman for the event, Fred Wright. The day's events are being sponsored by Cedar City Lions . Club and their auxiliary organization or-ganization the Lady Lions. A schedule of the days activities ac-tivities is as follows: 8 a.m. Flag raising cere-1 mony. 9:30 a.m. Parade (route is not yet determined) 10:30 a.m. Kids games on the City Park. 11:30 a.m. Patriotic pro- j gram on the City Park. 9:00 p.m. Fireworks display to be viewed in the southeast area of the city, (south of the hospital.) hos-pital.) Throughout the forenoon the Lions Club will also man a series of game booths for all ages and all types of soft drinks, hot dogs and ham-bugers, ham-bugers, etc. will be on sale. Speaker for the patriotic program will he Juvenile Judge and president of the Lions Club, Sterling Bossard. The Lady Lions have been working hard in connection with the parade, which they will sponsor. Work on the floats is being done each day in the basement of the Cedar City High School and all members mem-bers of the organization have been asked to participate in the building of floats. Special prizes are being offered of-fered for the best floats in three seperate divisions. First, second and third prizes will be awarded in the commercial division; di-vision; first, second and third prizes in the bicycle, tricycle and wagon division, and a prize for the best float in the non-commercial division. Neighborhoods and organizations organi-zations are urged to enter floats in the parade. The floats must be hand pulled or pushed. No motor driven vehicles ve-hicles will be allowed nor will any horses. Theme for this years parade par-ade will be "Our History in the Making." All float entries should be registered with parade chairman, chair-man, Sally Indgjar by calling 586-9680. The Lions Club has also sent out a letter to residents asking for a $1 contribution to help support the expensive fireworks display. Don Bulloch, Bul-loch, chairman of the fireworks fire-works has asked that anyone interested in contributions to the fireworks to contact him or send any conributions to him care of Bulloch's Drug. . The fireworks have become I an annual event for the Independence In-dependence Day Celebration Bulloch pointed out, but it also is an expensive one and the Lions Club is asking citizens to help them in meeting their obligaton in this important phase of the celebration. |
