Show Poetry awards to be announced at meeting tonight Tonight (Thursday) at 8 p.m. in Room 5 of the Public Library members of the Southern South-ern Utah Poetry Society will receive awards for entrys in the recently concluded poetry contest. All interested persons are urged to attend and enjoy the evening with "the poets", according ac-cording to Mrs. Iris Corry, president. Contest Chairman, Mrs. Elaine Southwick will conduct the meeting. And following the prayer by Dr. Paul Vor- kink, Mrs. Corry will report on the Utah State Poetry Society Soc-iety Meeting she recently attended. at-tended. A brief history of the Southern South-ern Utah Poetry Society will be given by Mrs. Fern Hunter, vice president; and Mrs. Golda Guyman, board member will present the By-laws of the society. Mrs. Mae Boyter, secretary will give a membership report re-port and she urges interested persons to join now so that they can start work on their entries for next year's contest. The music will be furnished ' by Helen Lindsay and Peggy Minster to set an appropriate mood for the presentation of the awards and reading of the prize poems. Richard Rowley will do the honors in the Light Verse category. cat-egory. Dr. Kent Myers and Marian Jorgensen will read the winning entries of the Southern Utah Verse; and the I Serious Verse will be read by Forrest Hunter and Mrs. Jorgensen. Jor-gensen. The entries were judged by Lael W. Hill, Serious Verse; Peggy Tangren, Southern Utah Verse; and Kathryn Kay, I Light Verse. j The poets prepared their se-1 lections under the direction of Workshop Leaders, Mrs. Inez Cooper and Mrs. Sydney Hahne. The contest was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Neil Boyter, Mr. an, Mrs. Stanley Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Elwood.
