Show Graduating nurses receive guidelines in May 16 exercises A class of 11 licensed practical prac-tical nurses receiving graduation gradua-tion certificates at achievement achieve-ment exercises held May 16 at College of Southern Utah received re-ceived some guidelines to follow fol-low in coming years from Dr. Wesley P. Larsen, dean of the CSU School of Sciences. Dr. Larsen told the nurses that some rules they might use in adjusting to a changing chang-ing world and achieving a degree de-gree of stability might include a desire to continue to learn, the ability to know themselves and their environment, selectivity select-ivity in future planning, and the creativity to find better ways to do things. In addition to Dr. Larsen's talk, the graduates heard messages mes-sages from Dr. Royden C. Braithwaite, CSU president, Mrs. William D. Whipple, alumnus al-umnus of the practical nursing nurs-ing program, and A. W. Stephenson, Step-henson, dean of the CSU School of Business and Technology. Tech-nology. Dr. Braithwaite paid special tribute to Ellen Anderson, Ander-son, director of nursing instruction in-struction for the program for the past three years. Mrs. Sandra T. Renfro represented re-presented the class in address, ing the audience, and musical musi-cal numbers were also pre-sented pre-sented by the graduates. Mrs. George Lamb introduced Dr. Larsen. A special musical number was provided by Mrs. Wesley P. Larsen. The graduating class is the fourth to complete training at the college. The course is taught under the Manpower Retraining Act in cooperation with Valley View Medical Center and the Employment Security Office. To receive certification the nurses must undergo a year of Intensive training in related academic studies and clinical experence. The bulk of the practcal training has been received re-ceived at Valley View Medical Center. The students have also 1 studied at Utah Valley Hospital, Hos-pital, and local nursery schools, homes for the aged, and medical clinics. Those receiving certification include KathkvMi C.
