Richard has been considered con-sidered for a position with Ford Motor Company. H. also has an offer for a fellowship in German to the Universty of Iowa. The Religious Education A-vvard A-vvard for outstanding Womanhood Woman-hood was presented to Elma Lynne Sandberg of Cedar City. She is the daughter of James and Marva Sandberg. Elma Lynne has developed her leadership lead-ership and music talents through Church and Civic .service. .ser-vice. She has had 100'; attendance at-tendance at church meetings for 5 years. She has earned nine Individual awards. For the past three years she has served as MIA Music Director. For four years she serv.sd as Junior Sunday School organist. organ-ist. 'J' ELMA LYNNE SANDBERG The David L. Sargent A-ward A-ward for outstanding Manhood Man-hood and the Religious Education Educa-tion Award for outstanding Womanhood are traditionally presented at Institute Graduation Gradua-tion to the man and woman graduate who exemplify excellence ex-cellence in Academic, Social and Spiritual development. The Sargent Award was begun be-gun by the lal.e David L. Sargent, Sar-gent, a prominent professor and church leader at Cedar City. The criteria for the Manhood Man-hood Award cover daily Chris- Elma Lynne has majored in Elementary Education. She was 1968-09 president of the Student Education Association at College of Southern Utah. She has been awarded a scholarship schol-arship for academic excellence She has been completely self-supporting self-supporting during her four years of college. "Growing While Waiting" was h.er motto while her missionary mis-sionary served the Church. She is engaged to Vernile Prince. She plans to teach while he continues schooling. Both of these Award recipients recipi-ents represent the value of family integrity and personal commitment. They exemplify the principles underlining the Church educational program. The presentations were made by Gilbert Hull, Coordinator of tile Latter-Day Saints Student Association at CSU. Dr. Joseph Felix, Director of the Institute, reported that three CSU student body presidents presi-dents were to be awarded diplomas di-plomas at the Institute Graduation. Grad-uation. They are: Bill Baker, (67-68), Dan Jones, (68-C9), and Don Marchant, (69-70). Thre.e presidents of the Latter-Day Saints Student Association Assoc-iation have earned Institute diplomas and Special Certificates. Certifi-cates. Brent Hunter (67-68), Bill Baker (68-69), and Dan Jones (69-70). Don Marchant, 69-70 student body president, has also served as Latter-Day Saints Student Association Vice-President (68-69). |
