Show Volunteers Praised For Efforts in Savings Bond Sales Wendell E. Gile, Senior Vice-President Vice-President for Continental Banks and Trust Company, the American Ameri-can Bankers Association's Savings Sav-ings Bond Chairman for Utah, today to-day paid tribute to the volunteers volun-teers of Utah who helped to sell the $30 billion dollars in Series E and H Bonds which are now owned own-ed by the American people. The announcement of the new peak in bond holdings was made by tho Treasury Department to highlight high-light the 25th Anniversary year of the bond program, now being observed. The first Series E Savings Bonds ever issued was sold to President Franklin D. Roosevelt on May 1, 1941. Since then, more than 2.7 billion individual bonds, amounting to more than $150 billion, have been sold. Mr. Gile saluted the thousands of volunteer workers in Utah and the nation who have participated in the bond program. "Without their help, this record would not have been possible," he said. |
