Show Rams Finish Practice Season with Two Wins passing and by poor luck under ' the basket. In the meantime the Cowboys stayed even with the Rams by some accurate outside shooting from behind a clever screen. The two teams were tied 14-all at the first quarter rest and the Rams ahead 2G to 25 at halftime. As the third period got under way, the Parowan crew finally broke the game open to go ahead 41 to 28 by closing off the outside out-side shooting, coupled with a sticky defense that didn't give the visitors much chance from close in. Both coaches used all their squad members in the final period per-iod which turned into a wild affair af-fair with the home town crew going on to win by a 52 to 38 score. In the pre-season contests the Parowan High team have registered wins over two of the Dixie Division teams, Cedar and Kanab, and lost to three, Enterprise, Enter-prise, Hurricane and Dixie. Other wins have been over Juab, of Nephi, Valley of Orderville, Escalante Es-calante and Bryce Valley of Tropic. Tro-pic. The other loss was to Richfield. Rich-field. During the holiday week, the Rams played two games at home entertaining the Escalante crew on Wednesday night, an overtime affair, and then Kanab on Fri-I Fri-I day night. Coach Charles Brin-! Brin-! kerhoff crew ran into a tartar in j the Escalante squad and had to go into an overtime to win it af-, af-, ter trailing during the first half. The home team dropped be-'hind be-'hind 10 to 9 by the end of the first quarter, with neither team being able to hit. The Rams still trailed one one, 18 to 17 at half-time, half-time, and were still behind 33 to 32 at the third quarter rest. In the fourth quarter the Parowan Paro-wan squad forged into the lead, going out five points on lead at one time only to see the margin fade behind an Escalante comeback come-back which tied the score at the final gun. In the overtime period the Rams took a quick lead on some fast baskets by Larry Smith, and held on to win from the deter-mind deter-mind Escalante team by a 54 to 51 score. In Friday night's game with the Cowboys of Kanab, the first half was as close as possible with the home town crew again trailing a good part of the time caused by turnovers and bad i |
