Show March of Dimes Opens 1967 Campaign With Emphasis on Birth Defects March of Dimes money. The center cen-ter serves several of the inter-mountain inter-mountain states and is one of 43 treatment centers throughout the nation. Birth defects are usually of such a complicated nature that we are fortunate to have a center so close. The Iron County Chapter of the March of Dimes urges everyone to give generously this year It's a great opportunity to be able to help little children. $t was announced today that the campaign for the March of Dimes is officially underway with the mailing of the March of Dimes Mailers to the resdents of Iron County. David Evans, Campaign Cam-paign Chairman, announced that it is the desire of the Iron County Chapter to this year reach every home, thereby giving every citizen citi-zen an opportunity of contributing contribut-ing to this worthy cause. Througout the month there will be opportunities to contribute contri-bute through various means such as Coffee Days, being sponsored by the restaurants in the area; Marching Mothers, and the TV Telerama on Channel 5. Mr. Evans stated that an all out educational effort is being planned to inform the citizens of Iron County of the work being car-ried car-ried on through contributions to the March of Dimes. Plans are being crystalized to take the Birth Defects story to schools, civic clubs, and into each home via the marching mothers. Any club or group wishing to sponsor a program about birth defects can do so by contacting Mrs. Karl Bradshaw or Mr. Evans. There is much to tell and the Iron County Chapter is proud to tell it. A great deal of research has been carried on since the March of Dimes conquered polio. Seven percent or a quarter of a million babies born in the U. S. each year suffers from some kind of birth defect. Many of these are curable and if the story could be told to the parents of today, many might be preventable. The birth defects center in the Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City, has made substantial sub-stantial contributions to both research re-search and cures in this area.
