Show EUOm AND MIDVALLY NEWS by Mrs. Veda Matheson The New Year was celebrated on Saturday evening by the Enoch Ward M I A in a number of ways. There was a dance at the church and the various groups had parties. The younger Bee Hive girls, with Helen Jones as leader had their party at the home of Vicky Matheson. The second year Bee Hive girls were at the home of their leader, Lynn Clark. The Mia Maids and Explorers Ex-plorers met at the home of Barbara Bar-bara Bryant. The Scouts and Ensigns En-signs had a progressive supper ending at the home of Bud and Mary Nelson where games were played. A pantry shower for ValDean Williams and Shirley Farrow was held last week before their marriage and was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Bud Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. George !D. Grimshaw, and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Maxwell. The evening was spent assembling assemb-ling a newspaper account of Van Dean's and Shirley's courtship .and marriage. Mrs. Allen MeGee were here dur- ing the week and on Saturday her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ber-j Ber-j nard Johnson came. They were I met here by a son, Bruce Johnson John-son and his wife and family. Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Murie and Mrs. Cora Murie went to Enter- j prise on Tuesday to attend funeral fu-neral services for Mrs. .Mary Ann , Pickering, mother of Leah Pickering Pick-ering Murie. Mrs. Cora Murie learned Monday Mon-day of the birth of a son to Dick and Marie Talbot of Delta. He is ! a grandson of Roland and Ellen 'Anderson of Alamo, Nev. and was born on Ellen's birthday. He is also the 38th great-grandchild for Mrs. Murie. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Christiansen : and family received a visit over j the New Year week end from I Ray's sister, Irene Christiansen of Salt Lake City. Roy Speirs of San Gabriel, Cal. flew in for a short New Year's Eve visit with his brother Irin Speirs and family. Eloa Richardson reported her ' mission in Sacrament meeting on Sunday. She told of many experiences ex-periences while serving in Idaho and Montana and also told of meeting Elder Keith Maxwell and the Gary Gibson family. John and Mary Stankosky have moved into their new home in Enoch. The Ivan and LaMar Matheson families received a brief visit on Friday from a nephew, Dean Maxwell of Salt Lake City. Garry Maxwell's Sunday School class held a skating party Saturday Sat-urday afternoon at the skating rink in Cedar City and then had refreshments. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Warren of Parowan spent Saturday night at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. andj Mrs. Ivan Matheson. Ted Wilcken was host to a parity par-ity of young people on Friday .evening after the ball game-Mr. game-Mr. and Mrs. George Q. Wilcken Wil-cken were visitors over the Christmas Christ-mas week end with their son and -daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Wilcken and also with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Nelson. Also visiting with the Dee Wilcken family on Friday were Cleone's brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wilcox. Glen and Delia Garfield and family went to Salt Lake on Tuesday and returned on Thursday. Thurs-day. Delia went to attend meetings meet-ings on Wednesday at the State Health Department. Bud and La-Ree La-Ree Garfield and children were here from Las Vegas and accompanied accom-panied them. DeWayne and Marilyn Alger and family received a visit Sunday Sun-day from DeWayne's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Slye and son Bobby of Milford. Mr. and Mrs. Orion Sherratt received a New Year's visit from their daughter Linda Sherratt Ulibarri, who was married recently re-cently and lives in Salt Lake. Dick and Elaine Nelson combined com-bined business and pleasure when they took their three younger youn-ger children to Salt Lake City tor part of the holidays.
