"This may be the first silk screen showing by junior high students anywhere. If by chance it isn't the first, it is the best," Anderson declared. Over 30 students at the Junior High have chosen to work with the silk screen printing process as their project. pro-ject. Because of the time required re-quired to initiate the process, students have been spending many hours before and after school and on Saturdays in order to complete their seri-graphs.. seri-graphs.. With the help of Wayne Kimball, student teacher from the College of Southern Utah, and Mr. Anderson, the students stu-dents made their own silk ! screen frames, stretched the silk, and planned and exe-cuted exe-cuted their designs. ; . "By introducing this rela- tive complex method of creat- ! ing multiple original works of ; art, it was intended that each student would have a success- ! ful experience in this graphi- 1 media," Anderson said. ; "We also hope that the stu- dents might develop greater ! awareness for their environ- j ment and see beauty in ob- -jects which are often thought dull and uninteresting," hep added. j I Each student printed enough J copies to permit exchange with other printers, and each J print displayed in the exhibit has been priced and will be available for sale. i' Those who take the oppor- tunity to visit the exhibit will be pleasantly surprised, with J the quality as well as the i originality of the work, An- J derson and Kimball believe.
