Show Model United Nations at CSU Dr. J, D. Williams, professor of political science at University Univer-sity of Utah and candidate for the United States Senate, win De Keynote speaner ior a model United Nations Assembly As-sembly to be held, at College of Southern Utah Thursday, May 16, Dr. Williams will speak on the role of the U. N. in respect to the United States. He is director of the Hinckley Hinck-ley Institute of Politics at the U of U and was an organizer of the state high school United Nations program conducted at the university each year. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate grad-uate of Stanford University and a Lucius N. Littauer Fellow Fel-low at Harvard University. He has served on numerous consultant con-sultant assignments including the Utah Little Hoover Commission, Com-mission, Haill Air Force Base, and Utah Local Government Survey Commission. The assembly will onen at 8 a. m. in the CSU Ballroom, according to John Hammond, instructor in political science at CSU and coordinator of the event. Participants from Dixie College and CSU will represent repre-sent 110 of the 124 nations that are voting members of the U. N. Issues to be presented at the day-long event include: an Albanian resolution to cen-sure cen-sure the U. S. for its policy in Vietnam; a resolution by the U. S., Great Britain, and Russia to halt the spread of nuclear weapons; a Bolivian censure of Cuba for guerilla warfare in Latin America: a resolution from Great Britain calling for total embargo on all trade with Rhodesia; a Rumanian resolution to admit Red China to the U. N., and a compromise resolution from India to attemDt to solve the Middle East crisis. Jim Hansen, Richfield, will act as president of the assembly. assem-bly. Also assisting with the activity are the CSU Young Republican and Young Democrat Demo-crat organizations and the World Affairs Club. Dr. Williams will give a public address Wednesday, May 15, at 9 p. m. in the CSU Recital Hall under the sponsorship of the Young Democrat Club. |
