Show Registration for LDS Institute Insti-tute of Religion Classes being held in connection with the second term of summer school at College of Southern Utah is being held this week. Three classes are being offered, of-fered, according to Joseph Felix, Institute Director. The three classes and their times are as follows: Bible, III, The Parables of Jesus: 1 p. m. Monday, Tuesday, Tues-day, Wednesday, and Thursday. Thurs-day. Scripture 105, Bible Mannerisms Manner-isms and Customs: 2:30 p. m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Scripture 22, Book of Mormon: Mor-mon: 6:45 to 9 p. m. Monday and Wednesday. Courses are open to students and to townspeople interested in participating, Felix stated. Funeral Services Honor Nels C. Madsen Funeral services were held Friday in the Summit Ward Chapel for Nels C. Madsen, 85, who died at the home of his daughter in Sprlngville Monday, Mon-day, July 3 of natural causes. Madsen Immigrated to the United States and took up residence res-idence in Utah when he was 17 years of age. He was born in Frejler, Aalborg, Denmark on May 14, 1882 to Marrinus Nelson and Else Thomsen Madsen. He married Norah Dean Hu-let Hu-let in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 9, 1905. She died in 1943. He later married Sarah Ann Dalley Smith in Los Angeles. An active member of the LDS Church, he served in the bishopric in Summit and was leader of the choir for many years. He was also high priest group leader in the Summit wara. in iw ne servea a mission for the LDS Church returning to his native land of Denmark. Active in music circles he was well known for his participation par-ticipation In dance bands and orchestras. Speakers at the services included in-cluded Oscar J. Hulet and Harold Smith. Invocation was by H. Ivan Dalley and the benediction by Alma C. Lawrence. Law-rence. Dedication of the grave at the Summit cemetery was by Otto P. Dalley. Special musical numbers included in-cluded two selections, "O My Father" and "Rest, Rest for the Weary Soul" by the Summit Sum-mit Ward Singing Mothers, and a vocal solo, "When He Comes Again," by Wendy Facer. Prelude and postlude music was by Sylvia Stapley. Survivors include a daughter, daugh-ter, Afton Clark, Springville, and a son, Elmer N. Madsen, Blackfoot, Idaho. Also surviving sur-viving are 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. |
