Show Cedar City Native Warned Director Of State Commission Leonard J. Smith of Cedar City, formerly a full-time commissioner com-missioner with the Utah State Liquor Control Commission, was appointed director of the organized commission at a meeting held in Salt Lake City. Governor Calvin Rampton announced the appointment in a brief appearance at a meeting of the newly organized organiz-ed seven-man advisory commission. com-mission. In his new capacity as director dir-ector of the commission, Smith will be in charge of carrying out policy of the advisory commission and assuming full responsibility of the operation of the commission activities under the board. Smith was appointed by Gov. Rampton to the State Liquor Control Commission in 1965. Utah State Legislature alternated the commission in sessions early this year and the new commission was appointed ap-pointed and began acting on . June 9. During the interim period, Smith has been serving as an acting assistant director until his formal appointment as the full-time director at last week's meeting. J. W. Pace, former chairman of the commission, will retire, it was indicated. |
