Show Candy Stripers, Pink Ladies Honored At Annual Hospital Awards Banquet mention. Following the luncheon, an open house was held at the Valley View Medical Center to climax National Hospital Week. Mrs. Flo Fankhauser, pres. ident of the Valley View Medical Med-ical Center Auxiliary, welcomed welcom-ed sixty Candy Stripers, Pink Ladies, and guests recently at the annual award luncheon. lunch-eon. Special guests included Mrs. Ruth N. Gailey and Bill Moore and spouses, William Whipple, administrator, and Mrs. Mary Smith, director of nursing. The Gaileys and Moores traveled from Bountiful Bounti-ful to attend the event. Mrs. Gailey is president of the State Hospital Auxiliary, and Mr. Moore is president of the Utah State Hospital Administrators Admin-istrators Association. An interesting talk by Mrs. Gailey pointed out four reasons rea-sons why volunteers play an important part in hospitals. These included unhurried and personal attention to the patient pa-tient supplementing the regular reg-ular hospital staff, public relations re-lations with the community .at large, promoting careers in health fields, and fund raising rais-ing to provide gifts of supplies sup-plies or services to the hospital. hos-pital. Mrs. Loie Murray presented present-ed awards to the Candy Stripers. Those earning awards were Tillie Stewart, Charlene Weir, Joan Oldroyd, Mary Jo Little, Sherrie Holm, Terry Burch, Francis Sevy, Jan Corry, Janet Stapley, and Susan Sus-an Murray. Mrs. Smith presented pre-sented caps to Linda Esplin, Lorna Gordon, Deborah Dalley, and Carol Higbee. Mrs. Smith also presented a 400 hour pin to Susan Murray. Pink Ladies earning awards were: Linda Reber, Naida Gardner, Coreen Curtis, and Sandra Barton, 100 hour pin and charm; Flo Fankhauser, Joan Hayes, and Iva Atkins, 150 hour patch; Ella East, Marian Esplin, Erma Matheson, Mathe-son, and Patsy Slack, 200 hour charms; Eda Carter, Ramona Burns, and Sherrell Lunt, 300 hour charms; and Kate Stevenson, Ste-venson, a 400 hour charm. Mr. Whipple made the following follow-ing awards of silver pins and charms: Susan Cox and Loie Jean Murray for 500 hours, and Margaret Frandsen, Sharon Shar-on Webb, and Phyllis Weir, 700 hours. Two $100 scholarships were presented to two outstanding graduating Candy Stripers. Charlene Weir and Susan Murray were the recipients of these awards with Mary Jo Little receiving honorable |
