Show County Commissioner Selected On Statewide Study Committee j Ivan Matheson, chairman of the Iron County Commission, Commis-sion, has been appointed to a state study committee delegated dele-gated with the responsibility , of formulating the necessary organization framework to establish es-tablish a local affairs office in state government. programs and recommendations recommenda-tions toward creating new programs to help meet the pressing needs of local government gov-ernment where local resources are insufficent. First meeting of the committee com-mittee was held Friday in the Governor's Board Room at the State Capitol. Matheson was apointed to serve on the committee as a representative of the Utah Association As-sociation of Counties and the five county area of southwestern southwest-ern Utah. The organization of this committee will serve to initiate ini-tiate and set forth guidelines for the structure and responsibilities respon-sibilities of an advisory council coun-cil and an agency of state government to service and provide coordination with all state and federal activities which affect local government. The 24-man committee will bo composed of eight representing repre-senting county government, eight from municipalities and eight from state government. .The primary function of this advisory committee is to explore ex-plore intergovernmental cooperation co-operation and to advise the governor, the legislature, and local officials of matters affecting af-fecting relations at various governmental levels. It is anticipated that from this study committee, the outcome out-come will result in definite proposals leading to improved management of existing state |
