Show Six Furlong Event To Feature Memorial Day Races The first of three big annual an-nual racing events, the Memorial Mem-orial Day meet, sponsored by the Red Hill Wranglers, wiil get underway here this Thursday, Thurs-day, afternoon at the Parowan Race Track, states Mary Gae Evans, Wrangler publicity chairman. Post time for the meet will be 2 p. m. As a special attraction, a feature race with a blanket trophy has been arranged by Roger Allen, racing chairman. This race will be a special six furlong event, a free for all horses, with the blanket to be awarded to the winner. The blanket is being donated by Gordon Bringhurst and the North East Furniture Company of Cedar City. In addition to this special .event, there will be five other 'races en the card with horses Uuiu throughout the area vy l . ing for purses. In addition,' Mrs. Evans states there will bo jackpot calf and steer roping rop-ing for men and jackpot barrel bar-rel racing for women, to be staged between races, for the entertainment of those who attend. Concession stands will also be open near the grandstand grand-stand to furnish refreshments |
