Show Alumni to Test T-birds Strength spring football season at CSU. There will be no charge for the alumni game. Following the battle, alumni, varsity What could be one of the best football games of the 1967 season is slated at Col-1 lege of Southern Utah Satur-day Satur-day evening. The 1967 edition of the Thunder-birds Thunder-birds will be pitted against a strong alumni aggregation. Included on the alumni roster are these veteran CSU performers: At ends, Jerry Talbot and Tom Swegle; tackles tack-les will be Ed Bourque and Jay Rindlesbachor; guards are Rick Traasdahl and Rex Wright, with Cardon Dalley at center. In the backfield, Tom Miller will be at quarterback quarter-back with Dennis Wright and Bill Carter at halfbacks. Son Sudbury will be running at the fullback spot-Coach spot-Coach Bill Reeske indicated that going against this alumni alum-ni crew will bo what he considers con-siders to be his best product of spring football since coming com-ing to CSU. The offensive unit will include in-clude Gary Roylance, 200, and Jerry Pitts, 175, at ends. Bob Pero at 240 and Lanny Little-field Little-field at 225 will be at tackles, tack-les, and Don Olsen at 200 and Richard Barnett at 220 will be the guards. At center will be Jim Vincent at 230. Reid Kimoto and David Nevens are expected to divide honors at quarterback. Wade Bender at 210 and Bill Lamb, 200, will be at halfbacks, and Peter Dimick has been converted as an offensive fullback. He weighs in at 242 pounds. Defensively the T-Birds will throw in Paul Hortin and Al Griffone, both at 200 pounds, at the ends, Pat Rippee 230 and Mel Carter 220 will be the tackles, and the middle guard will be Duane Bennett at 250. Linebackers will be Doug Wolters 200, Dave Jensen Jen-sen 195, and Tom Perkins, 180-Safety 180-Safety personnel will include Don Johnson, 200, Ken Kimick, 180, and Russell Shirts, the smallest starter on the squad at 170. A highlight of the CSU Athletic Awards banquet held Friday evening was presentation of honorary lettermen jackets to two prominent supporters of the athletic program at the college. Top, CSU treasurer, Hazen Cooley, accepts ac-cepts jacket from coach Boyd Adams, right, with Coach Bill Reeske at left. In the bottom picture Coach Adams makes presentation to Dr. J. S. Prestwich for his untiring support and assistance in the program over many years. The two men were selected for the special recognition by the staff. Coach Tom Hudspeth, head football mentor at Brigham Young University was special guest speaker for the evening at which all athletic awards of the year were presented. |
