Show Cedar City Social Swing By Nolo Kupfer Ogden was the destination last week for Mrs. C B. Cooley and her daughter, Mrs. Hal Lund of Beaver. They visited In Ogden with Lt. and Mrs. Keith Cooley and two children who reside at Hill Air Force Base. As they returned re-turned home, some tirae was spent in Salt Lake City with relatives. rel-atives. A two-week trip by automobile automo-bile was recently enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Orton and daughter daugh-ter Errolyn as they traveled to Port Isabel, Texas, to visit with AN Kenneth Orton who is stationed sta-tioned there. With stop-overs t Carlsbad Caverns, N. M., and other oth-er points of interest the family arrived at their destination via El Paso. Situated near the Gulf of Mexico, they found their stay a: Port Isabel filled with interesting inter-esting hours of sightseeing. A side-trip into old Mexico was one the highlights of the two week trip. The Cazania sewing club was entertained on Wednesday by Glenna Dodge. The ladles found the evening most enjoyable as they visited and sewed together. Following the activities, a luncheon lunch-eon was served by the hostess. Meeting at the home of Mrs. Ren Tayjor, the Lahoaobey club enjoyed an evening of pinochle. Mrs. Taylor served a lovely luncheon to club members and her special guests, Vlckl Rosenberg Rosen-berg and Mame Bulloch. Prizes for the evening were presented to Rayola Leigh and Ruth Cartoon. Ca-rtoon. Scene for the recent meeting of the H. H. Club was the Hotel El Escalante. Hostess for the evening eve-ning was Mrs. C Leland Dal-ley. Dal-ley. Following an attractive luncheon, the ladles were introduced intro-duced to Mrs. Lillian Macfarlane by program chairman, Mrs. M. L. Chrlstensen. Mrs. Macfarlane presented a' most Interesting evening eve-ning on "Jazz," its origin and the place it holds in American music. Of great Interest is the background back-ground of our community and the stories of early setters who came here to bring about its development de-velopment Last Friday Ami Fidel Fi-del ladles heard Mrs. Mame Bulloch Bul-loch tell the history of her grandfather, grand-father, Bengt Nelson, one of the first setlers of Cedar City. Converted Con-verted In Sweden Mr. Nelson Imlgrated to America and was later sent to Cedar City to help develop the iron mines. He built the first adobe house here and played a big part In Cedar City's history. Following the most interesting inter-esting sketch, the hostess for the evening, Mrs. Thornton Jones, served a luncheon. |
