Show Milford Tigers, Rams Win Tourney Berths Millard Division basketball teams walked off with most of the honors and laurels Friday and Saturday as they dominated the Region Ten basketball tournament tour-nament held at Hurricane Friday Fri-day and St. George Saturday. Milford Tigers walked off with the Region Ten championship, taking it from the Dixie Flyers in the playoffs at St. George Saturday evening. It was not without a struggle, however, as Dixie led through most of the game only to have the Tigers come from behind In the final quarter to tie the game at 32-all at the end of regulation play on a shot by Belliston. The Tigers went on to win 38 to 36 In the overtime period. Pa rowan Rams, coached by John Wood, fought their way into the State Class B tournament, defeating the Cedar Redmen 48 to 46 in an overtime game in the tournament opener and moved on to defeat the Millard Eagles 61 to 54 for the tournament berth. Millard in the opening round out-hustled the Hurricane Tigers Tig-ers on the Hurricane home court winning by a 51 to 50 score for what could be termed as fourth place in the Region. They lost to Parowan Saturday. Cedar-Parowan game furnished furnish-ed probably the most excitement of the two-day meet as the Rams and Redmen battled down to the wire for a 41 to 44 deadlock at the end of regulation play and the Rams moved out for the final fin-al two-point victoiy In the three, minute extra period. The Redmen on a field goal by Gardner tied the game up at 44-all with two minutes remaining remain-ing in the game. Coach Wood called t'.rne out at that point to set up the strategy that paid off in a victory for the Rams. With two minutes remaining in j the game Parowan went into a deep freeze which gave them I tnroe nnvantages. ir the Kedmen came out after the ball Parowan was in a position to draw a foul, and it also gave them the chance to draw an easy basket under those circumstances. Kitchen missed miss-ed the foul shot, tailed and had one Jump shot, wh'.ch also missed for the final shots for the Rcd- men and the Rams took the rebound re-bound and controled the ball for the remainder of the period.
