Show Cedar Bowlers Enter State Tourney Ranks I Two Cedar City bowlers team- ed with four from St. George have entered the 23rd annual Championship Bowling Tournament Tourna-ment of the Utah State Bowling Association In Salt Lake City. The team will include Elmer Davis of the Cedar Arctic Circle team, and Gordon Twitchell of the Cedar Arctic Circle. Other members of the team will be La-Ralne La-Ralne McArthur and Ray Thompson Thomp-son of the Firemen In St. George; Leon Watson of the Dixie Drug and alternate Clint Gentry of the Bank of St. George team. Tournament will include 64 teams from throughout the state and will be played on two successive suc-cessive week ends. The team of ! Cedar and St. George bowlers will compete Saturday and Sun- 1 dayday, Mar. 14 and 15. Winner of the tournament Is determined by total pin falls, but cash awards will be presented pre-sented on the basis of handicaps figured from entrants' averages. Each team will participate In a team competition, doubles competition com-petition and singles competition. I Team entry will include McArthur. McArth-ur. Thompson, Twitchell, Davis and Watson. Doubles combinations combina-tions will put the two Cedar City Bowlers, Twitchell and Davis together; to-gether; McArthur and Thompson Thomp-son and Watson and Gentry. Ail will participate in the singles competition. Averages of the Individuals at the time they were entered In the tournament were: McArthur, 157; Thompson, 165; Twitchell, 154; Davis, 160; Watson, 143, and Gentry, 144. Team will roll Its competitive lines Saturday at 9:30 p. m., and will compete In doubles competition compe-tition Sunday at 12 noon and will complete the single matches at 1 p. m. Sunday. Tournament will be conducted at the Bonwood Bowl at 2500 So. Main In Salt Lake City. |
