Show Rams Set Dovn Richfield In Tourney Play The Parowan Rams, the last team to win a place In the Class B tournament after playing three1 hard games last week to get in-1 to the big meet, turned in one of I its best performances of the year, on Wednesday to knock one of the pre-tourney favorites out of the Class B tournament In Provo. After dropping behind the highly high-ly rated Richfield team, picked, by many writers to win the meet, Coach John Wood's team turned 1 on the steam to roll to a 61 to 55 win. Richfield, one of the top picks of the big meet, and Parowan, a I third place team, were paired In1 the drawing, and none of the up-state writers gave the Rams! much chance against the big, pol-1 Ished Sevier County crew. But that's the way Coach Wood and his team likes to be picked, as the underdog. j Giving away a lot In height( at the Richfield team, as the Rams have done almost all sea- son, they made it up In a well- balanced shooting attack which saw four of the five starters hit In the double figures. Coach Wood's boys were behind 14 to 11 at the end of the initial quarter and were behind 29-23 at half( time, but three minutes after, the opening of the third period! the score was tied up on two shots by Ron Smith and one by' Dennis Lowder. Rlchfleld's big center, Stanley (Ashby, kept his team in the running run-ning most of the way and hit for 26 points, highest for the day In the meet, but the only other man on his team to hit in the double figure was Peterson, and thiSj wasn't enough to match the output out-put of the five Parowan men.) Smith led the Rams with 18,! Clark got 15 and Simkins and Lowder had. 10 each with Robbj getting eight and doing a fine' job on defense. Parowan didn't j go out on lead until the third ! quarter and then only by one( point as that period ended. With! about three minutes to go the Rams went ahead by six and held this margin to the end. As a result of this win the Parowan team will play the Wasatch Wa-satch High team from Heber City tonight at 6:20 in the championship champion-ship flight. Wasatch won from BY High Wednesday by a 48 to 42 score.
