Show Cedar City Rock Club Makes Scenic Tour of Death Valley While most Cedar City residents resi-dents were getting used to their first real taste of winter recently, recent-ly, 12 members of the Cedar City Rock Club, two children and a guest couple from Boulder City, Nev., were enjoying pleasant weather as they toured Death Valley under the leadership of Trip chairmen Bernard and Ellas Leigh. The group left Cedar City Independently In-dependently Friday, meeting at Death Vtlley Junction at 10:30 a. m. Saturday. They made the circle cir-cle tour from Lathrop Well to Lathrop Well, visiting the Ryan Borax mine, Zabriskie Foint, Dante's View on the East Rim which looks down upon Bad water, wa-ter, lowest point on the North American continent, Furnace Creek Ranch from which they visited the Devil's Golf Course and Badwater; the Sand Dunes. Stovepipe Wells, Ubehebe Crater and Scottie's Castle, returning home by way of Beatty, late Sunday Sun-day night. Though primarily on a sight-seeing tour the group picked up some fine specimens, including travertime, borax and salt crystals. Participating In the Interesting Interest-ing and highly successful week end trip were: Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Ber-nard Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Ellas Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Leigh, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bird and daughter, Raquel; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Alva ilatheson and son, Kevin; and Mr. and Mrs. Proctor of Boulder Ciiy. Other members of the club, unable un-able to attend with the main group, followed later. Mr. and Mrs. Carson Sprague last week end Joined a 14-car caravan from Ventura and Barstow, Calif. The Spragucs left at 3 a. m. Saturday to Join the group as guests of Mr. CpIauc'S oiatct, ait aOtivc member of the Ventura group, and returned to Cedar Monday. Rock Club members from Cedar Ce-dar City are still making the tour. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Lawrence, Law-rence, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Foisyth and possibly Mr. Matheson will take the trip this week end. |
