Show Art Committee To Sponsor Area Talent Show A decision was reached Tuesday Tues-day by the Cedar City Art Exhibit Ex-hibit Committee designed to cope with a growing Interest In painting paint-ing stimulated by the annual exhibit ex-hibit over the years. In the decision de-cision the committee recognizes the fact that tMs growing interest inter-est has faulted in the need for a local exhibit to give students I 1 . . .!.. exhibit their work and show what they are accomplishing In this field. To properly support local artists ar-tists and not destroy the Identity of the annual exhibit, it was decided de-cided that the annual event be held to a strictly professional status, and to stage a local exhibit ex-hibit following the regular spring show. The committee Is definitely definite-ly pledged to stage the local event sometime In May at the North Elem"tary School. Local Artists Invited Invitations will be extended t all local artists Interested, not Just in Cedar City but in the southern Utah area. Invitations have already been extended artists throughout the country to participate in the annual an-nual Spring Art Exhibit, which will be held from Sunday, April 12, through Sunday, April 26. Re-plies Re-plies already received from many parts of the country Indicate that this year's event should be one of the finest, If not the finest, fin-est, In the 19-year history of the annual exhibit Location of the exhibit will also al-so bo changed this year, with the paintings to be hung in the High School gymnasium. Mrs. J. S. Prestwich, Exhibit Chairman, announces that committees com-mittees to handle the various phases of preparation for staging of the Exhibit have been appointed ap-pointed and preparations are moving forward very satisfactorily. satisfactor-ily. Committee Warned The general art commltte. in addition to Mrs. Prestwich, chairman, chair-man, includes Ianthus Wright, vice chairman; LaRue Schmutz, secretary; Janet Rollo, treasurer; Morgan Rollo, finance; Ray Eg-gert, Eg-gert, supervisor of shipping and display; L. Robert Gardner, dls-play dls-play chairman; Lorln C Miles, publicity; Alice Wright programs and brochure, and Ruth Hunter, guide service. The committee has named committee members to work with each of the above chairmen, and they will be contacted by the respective re-spective chairmen. |
