Show Utah Dental Health Director Addresses Lions Club Dr. Chester Dalgliesh, State Director of Dental Health, was guest speaker at Lions luncheon Monday. Dr. Dalgliesh discussed the floration of water. He stated that this was a matter of Inter-terest Inter-terest to all people everywhere, but one that does not necessarily have their support. Dr. Dalkliesh explained that floration of water Is nothing more than adjusting the flprldel content of water from what It Is, In any given water supply to what is recognized as that needed need-ed for proper structural development develop-ment of teeth to cut down decay. He stated that all waters contain floride In some degree. It Is a natural constituant of water, but the concentration differs In different dif-ferent water. The speaker stated that a sufficient suf-ficient supply of floride In water will reduce dental decay by as must as 05 per cent. He pointed out that the influence of floride in tooth decay is not new. The only question is, "How much floride can be safely used to prevent pre-vent decay?" This problem has entailed a vast amount of research re-search and it Is known absolutely absolute-ly that one part of floride per 1,000,000 parts of water will help prevent ravages of tooth decay and that it is a perfectly safe procedure to floridate water, he said. Besides Dr. Dalgliesh's discussion dis-cussion a special program was presented by Cedar City High School commemorating the birthday birth-day of George Washington. Miss Judith Wood gave a reading on the life of Washington and a trumpet quartet was presented by Judy Chrlstlanson, Keith Seeg-miller, Seeg-miller, Kent Corry and McNeil I Boyter. . |
