Show Preliminary Decisions Arrived At Regarding New County Hospital The Iron County Commissioners and Hospital Board, after a thorough study of hospital needs in the county, met Wednesday night and reached three major decisions in connection with providing a new and modern hospital for the county. As has been Dreviouslv announced, the count v has been assured of federal cooperation in the construction of such a project, pro-ject, in which the federal government govern-ment would make a grant to the county for approximately $450,-000. $450,-000. - It has been determined that a 60-bed hospital is needed, and as a result of conferences with doctors, doc-tors, nurses, architects and building build-ing contractors, the officials feel that a one-story structure Is advisable, ad-visable, because of more favorable favor-able constrnctlon and maintenance mainten-ance costs, and operation advantages. advan-tages. . This presents the problem of a new site, since there is not sufficient suffi-cient land available at the present pres-ent location for such a structure, particularly In view of the fact that the present hospital must remain In cperalon until the new facility Is completed. With a new site needed the commissioners commis-sioners decided to take options on two proposed sites, both located lo-cated In the southeast section of the city, with the selection between be-tween the two to be made after more detailed study is completed. The group also approved Gardner Gard-ner and Rasmussen, local archi-tecst, archi-tecst, to prepare plans for the new hospital. |
