Show Fernleigh Gardner Dies After Long Illness, Services Held Fernleigh Gardner, 71, prominent promi-nent Cedar City Church worker and rancher, died Saturday at his home following a lingering illness. Mr. Gardner was born In Pine Valley, Washington County, on Sept, 26, 1893, a son of Robert B. and Bernella E. Snow Gardner. He married Corinne Moffett on Feb. 13, 1926, in the St. George Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had engaged in Livestock raising and farming during most of his life. An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Latter-day Saints, he had served as Bishop Bis-hop of the Cedar Fourth Ward, and was a member of the Cedar Stake High Council. He Is survived by his widow, Cedar City; two daughters, Fern Gardner, Burbank, California; and Mrs. LaMond (Lois) Batty, Salt Lake City. Also surviving are four grandchildren, grand-children, a brother, Arthur Gardner, Gard-ner, St. George, and the following fol-lowing sisters, Mrs. Lehi (Bernella) (Ber-nella) Jones, Mrs. Leoi'ord (Thel-ma) (Thel-ma) Ashdown. both of Cedar City; Ci-ty; Mrs. L. A. (LuRue) Porter, St. George. Funeral services were conduct-in conduct-in the Cedar Third-Fourth Ward ! Chapel Tuesday afternoon, by Earl Kenney. Speakers were LaNoir Jones, Llnna S. Paxman and Adam Seegmiller, with remarks by Bishop Bis-hop Horace Hall. Invocation was by Sheldon Olds, benediction by Blaine Stapley, Stap-ley, dedication of the grave by B. Glen Kerney, and prayer at the mortuary by Arthur Gardner. Gard-ner. The musical program included a vocal solo, "Smilin' Through", by Flora M. Christensen; a vocal trio, "Peace I Leave With You", by Naida Gardner, Janice Olson and Gladys Isom; and a vocal group, "Love at Home" by H. M. Neeley, LaNoir Jones, Eugene j Palmer, Doug Manning, Shirley Stratton, Joan Hayes and Zelda Eagar and Ada Palmer accompanied accom-panied the mixed group. Prelude and postlude music was by Bernella Jones. Burial was In the Cedar City cemetery. |
