Show Cedar Junior High School Wins Ut. Accreditation Rulan Woodbury, principal of the Cedar City Junior High School, was presented a certificate certifi-cate of Accreditation by the Utah State School Board at a special assembly held Monday at the Junior High Auditorium. The accreditation certification is the fourth to be presented to a Junior high school in the state, It was pointed out. Presentation was made by L. Leon Jennings, member of the State Board of Education Ed-ucation from St. George. Principal Woodbury pointed out that a concentrated effort had been made during the past year by the Iron County School District Dis-trict staff, members of the faculty, facul-ty, parents and students to bring the school program to a standard to receive the accreditation award. Questionaires were sent out to parents and self evaluation programs were undertaken within with-in the school to find areas where improvement should and could be made. Evaluation Team Finally a team of 25 educators from throughout the state spent two days on the Junior High School campus evaluating the program for recommendations to the State School Board. Based on the findings of the accreditation teams, approval was granted by the state organization. At Monday's special assembly Dallas Greener, member of the State Junior High School Accreditation Accre-ditation of Secondary Education team, spoke on the development of the Accreditation program; Af-ton Af-ton Forsgren, Coordinator of Secondary Sec-ondary Education, State Department Depart-ment of Public Instruction, gave a report of the personnel, purposes pur-poses and accomplishments of the Visiting Committee, and Quentin E. Utley, Administrator, division of elementary and secondary sec-ondary education of the state department, de-partment, reported on the accre-dication accre-dication committee. In addition Dr. Joe A. Reidhead, assistant superintendent of Iron County Schools explained the efforts ef-forts of the district for accreditation. accredita-tion. Remarks were also heard from Superintendent Ianthus Wright and by Principal Woodbury. |
