CSU Extends Honors to "College" Women Special honors were paid to a pair of long time friends of the College of Southern Utah at fa-1 c'ulty meeting last week. Mrs. Llta Cooley and Miss Mary L. Bastow were presented with gifts by Mrs. Audrey Duncan on behalf be-half of Director Royden C. Braith-waite. Braith-waite. Mrs. Cooley is the widow of former CSU staff member C. B. (Ben) Cooley, who was head of the building trades department at the college for many years. Ben and Mrs. Cooley were beloved belov-ed by students and townspeople for their many contributions to the campus and the community. He was the inspiration and organizing or-ganizing power behind the college col-lege cabin In Cedar Canyon. He was active in numerous civic organizations. or-ganizations. Miss Bastow. affectionately known as "Mary L.", is an emeritus em-eritus professor of art. She taught from 1929 until retirement. Her creations adorn many homes throughout the region. She continues con-tinues to paint and is active in many areas of endeavor. |
