Show Farewell Testimonial Vill Honor Departing Missionary ; ry-.. BARRY LaVON PORTER A farewell testimonial will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 p. m. at the Cedar First Ward Chapel for Barry La Von Porter prior to his departure to the mission field for 'he Church, of Jesus Christ of La'tei-day Saints. Porter, the son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Porter, has been called to serve In the Western Canadian Mission. Porter Is a graduate of the Cedar Ce-dar High School and has been attending at-tending College of Southern Utah. While in High School he was a member of the Model United Unit-ed Nations. He also graduated from the LDS Seminary. He la a reciepent of the coveted "Duty to God Award. At the time of his mission call he was serving as Activity Counselor of the First Ward VMMIA and had previously served as secretary of the organization. Recently he participate In the Stake production of "The Prom-Ised Prom-Ised Valley." At CSU he was affiliated with the Lambda Delta Sigma fraternity frater-nity serving as vice president and as secretary. During fall quarter he also appeared in the campus production of "Mrs. Mc-Thing." Mc-Thing." Porter will enter the mission home in Salt Lake City on Monday, Mon-day, Jan. 22, where he will spend a week in preparation for his call. Speakers at the testimonial, which will be held In conjuction . i with the waVd's Sacramental services, will include J. Furl Porter. Por-ter. Phillip Hunter, Chris Parry, Carl Hastings and Bishop Lowell Sherratt. Responses from the missionary and his parents will also be heard. Special musical numbers will Include a piano solo by Sherl Lyn Porter, a sister of the missionary, mis-sionary, and a vocal duet by Carol Car-ol Lou Munford and Phil Bennett |
